AM-TEAM offers unique advanced 3D simulation services to optimise, design and scale-up water and wastewater treatment processes much faster and more effectively. 3D computational fluid dynamics are combined with process knowledge (particles, kinetics, bubbles, …) to produce highly accurate 3D models that allow virtual troubleshooting, virtual design and virtual piloting. These realistic models reduce, complement or replace physical experimenting while increasing testing flexibility and learning. AM-TEAM’s clients are water utilities, technology providers and consultants worldwide.


Avecom (BE) is an innovative SME specialized in steering and optimizing microbial processes in environmental and industrial applications. Founded in 1995 as a spin-off company of LabMET (Ghent University), Avecom knows a yearly steady growth and expanding knowledge, research and production capacity.

Avecom has several products in portfolio ranging from products for improving performance of wastewater treatment plants (aerobic and anaerobic) and digesters over products for microbial fat removal to products for in-situ CVOC degradation in soils.

Apart from its own products, Avecom works in close collaboration with industrial companies for the research and development of new products and processes. Hereby Avecom takes care of the laboratory testing and furthermore supports the industrial company in the upscaling.

Last but not least, Avecom supports its costumers by labscale and pilotscale feasibility tests for wastewater treatment, digestion processes and soil remediation.

Avecom has two extend laboratories and a production facility which allows to perform R&D starting from preliminary lab testing to proven pilot scal applicability. Avecom has about 15 employees.

De Watergroep

De Watergroep is the largest water company in Flanders (Belgium). We serve 3.2 million customers in 177 towns via a 34,000-kilometre network of pipes. De Watergroep’s total drinking water production amounts to 130 million m³ on an annual basis. De Watergroep invests in high-quality drinking water. We trace the quality of our drinking water from source to tap. And we make sure that we are prepared for any challenges with which we might be confronted. This is why we invest in our infrastructure, in new technology and in the expertise of our specialist staff.

De Watergroep is also a designer of tailor-made water projects for business. The Industry & Services business unit offers customised services, usually implemented in the form of DBFO contracts (Design, Build, Finance & Operate). Based on the sources available, we look for the most suitable way to achieve the water quality and quantity required.

Together with its expert partner Aquafin, De Watergroep has also built up a strong position in the field of waste water management. Together we have set up a business unit – Riopact – which supports cities and municipalities in achieving the objectives of the European Water Framework Directive. Riopact offers various services, ranging from a comprehensive package in which the entire sewage infrastructure is taken over, to specific services customised for individual cities and communities.

Since 1923, the multi-service company FARYS|TMVW plays an important public role in providing drinking water more than 600.000 customers in Belgium. Annually, about 85.000.000 m³ is produced and distributed throughout a network of large collectors, reservoirs, water towers, pumping stations and smaller distribution piping.

While drinking water distribution remains its core activity, FARYS produces process water for the industry, tailored to the customer’s need, and delivers other services to mainly public organizations as well. As such, FARYS provides local sewage water collection, transport and treatment, management of sports facilities and general support.

The laboratory of FARYS is a BELAC-certified drinking water laboratory, dedicated to the analysis of all microbiological, organic and inorganic compounds in the drinking water legislation. The R&D initiatives of FARYS are focused on finding a strategic answer to the challenges of climate change and to secure drinking water supply for the future. As such, FARYS continuously strives for further improvement of (online) smart water quality monitoring, and strongly supports technological innovation that increases the efficiency in water (re)use within the circular economy. FARYS participates in decentralized wastewater treatment projects and the development of resource recovery technology.

    Organic Waste Systems (OWS)

    Organic Waste Systems (OWS) is a world leading company in the construction and operation of anaerobic digestion plants, in the biodegradability and compostability testing of different types of materials, and in waste management consultancy.

    OWS is a private company under Belgian law, constituted in 1988. The headquarters of the company are in Gent (Belgium) with subsidiaries in the US, Germany & Japan.

    The three main activities of the companies are:

    • Construction of anaerobic digestion plants
    • Biogas consulting & support
    • Biodegradation testing and waste management consultancy

    OWS has developed several digestion processes (DRANCO and SORDISEP, amongst others) and offers lab & consulting services to various clients from the public and private sector. Consulting services are offered in the field of biodegradation and compostability, waste composition, waste separation, recycling, integrated waste management and related legislation in both Europe and the U.S. OWS also provides contract research laboratory testing for the determination of the biodegradability and compostability of plastics, packaging materials, consumer products, detergents, etc. under strict quality conditions.


    Paques helps companies and municipalities contribute to the major challenges of today: to reduce their water and carbon footprings and reclaim valuable resources.

    Paques does this byh developing ingenious anaerobic water purification systems that produce energy from wastewater, whilst purifying the water and facilitating water reuse. The biogas produced in the purifying process is a source of green energy, a field of emerging interest worldwide.

    Since the introduction of Paques' first BIOPAQ® reactor in 1982, close cooperation with its partners has resulted in an extensive portfolio for integrated water and gas treatment. All systems are designed and installed to fit the customer's specific needs, either integrated with existing treatment systems or as stand-alone solutions.

    Paques' technologies have proven to be cost-effective and reliable solutions and the website contains many case references that establish that claim.


    Pidpa was founded in 1913 as a drinking water production and distribution company. Today it provides drinking water for 1.2 million residents and companies in the Province of Antwerp. Pidpa provides these 500,000 customers with over 57 million m³ of drinking water per year by means of its 12 groundwater production centers, 26 extraction facilities, 29 booster stations and  a network of supply pipes of 12,600 km. Particular specialisms include iron removal (both biologically and physiochemically), softening, quality assurance, GIS and monitoring, and remote equipment control via SCADA.

    Pidpa is also actively involved in sewerage management since 2005: i.e.  managing, maintaining and renovating the municipal sewer network; installing and repairing of service pipes; cleaning storm drains; managing canals; managing, maintaining and operating the pumping stations, the municipal purification plants and individual purificiation systems, and finally developping a complete databank of the municipal sewer network.Pidpa guarantees 24/7 service availability, from drink water supply issues to sewerage management.

    Finally, Pidpa  offers a wide range of water services, including required inspections (of drinking water branches and waste water connections), water audits, water monitoring, legionella management, pressure readings and temporary public water access points. Cities and municipalities can count on extra services such as rainwater facility inspection, fire hydrant  signalization and inspection, and both underground and above-ground water access points.


    Advanced Waste Water Solutions B.V. (AWWS) was founded in 2008 by managing director Angelo de Mul. AWWS is a growing company with expertise in wastewater treatment for the industrial, agricultural, communal and maritime sector. At AWWS, we focus on the development, engineering and assembly of innovative water treatment technologies. Furthermore, we perform our own commissioning and service, also acting as an advisor in sustainable water management. For all these activities, AWWS has its own research laboratory, piloting facilities and assembly hall, and often works in close collaboration with our industrial partners, universities and other knowledge institutions. As a business developer, AWWS has the expertise and experience to develop and introduce commercial prducts to the market. In 2014, AWWS was the first company in Europe with a certified biological water treatment for cruise ships. For difficult wastewater, as for example hospital water, AWWS has a patented solution.

    Our goal is to provide sustainable water treatments, meanwhile reducing water treatment costs and closing loops.

    Water-link is the integrated water company of the Antwerp region. As largest water producer in Flanders, water-link serves 3 market segments: residential, industrial and other water companies. Water-link has 642.000 daily consumers of drinking water. Next, water-link wants to offer other water-related services to its customers.

    Industry in the Port of Antwerp uses 41% of our water, in different qualities. Our industry department (the former subsidiary Induss) focusses on the whole water cycle for companies and is active in the whole of Belgium. For this purpose, we operate 9 installations, which deliver process- and demineralised water of different qualities, tailor-made according to the needs of the client. Reliability, sustainability and innovation are key.

    Water-link is the long term partner as well for other drinking water companies as Farys, De Watergroep, Pidpa and Evides (the Netherlands). Therefore, our drinking water production capacity was expanded in 2016 with an additional production unit, bringing the average daily production capacity to 375.000 m³ drinking water.

    Finally, water-link accounts for the sewerage in the Antwerp region. Due to climate change, cities have to adapt to deal with more extreme weather conditions such as storms and rainfall. Therefore, water-link is implementing their rainwater plans to be prepared for the future.

    Waterschap De Dommel is the regional authority responsible for water management of the Dommel river basin in the south-eastern part of the province of Brabant, The Netherlands. The working are is approx. 1.540 km² with near 1 million inhabitants. Tasks include river quantity and quality management, flood protection, river restoration, sewage transport and wastewater treatment.
